THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE TOO BIG HAIR
Written and Illustrated By Janna
You know us.
From the big haired sisters who brought you such gems as, “Conditioner Fail“, “People act like God gave Black girls a tube of relaxer and a note that says, ‘My bad!’-God”, and “Ten Ways the Maker of the Blue Ivy Petition Could Have Spent Her Time Better“, comes our very first official publication in the form of a children’s book called The Little Girl with The Too Big Hair. And trust us, what we lack in title we make up for in plot. Here’s the overview:
Ava hates going to school.
She’s always alone.
She feels ugly.
The kids are mean
And it’s all because of her big, kinky hair–
Or is it?
I thought it’d be a pretty cool to incorporate self-identity into schools as a part of the regular curriculum and this lesson plan is just one of the ways to get it done.
Take a look at this free lesson plan which discusses differences in a way that K-2 students will be able to easily understand and have a ton of fun with. (I went through this lesson plan at a conference in Chicago with a room full of educators and school board administrators and they went wild!)
