New Style Alert: Undercolor Box Braids with Graphic Undercut

New Style Alert: Undercolor Box Braids with Graphic Undercut

I’ve been bitten by the razor bug y’all. I think it’s paying off. I mean, how cute is this style? It’s a great way to look current and fun while still protecting your hair, and still gives you a lot of versatility. If you want this style, I recommend going right above the ears, cutting low but not bald, and heavily researching your barber before you cut. My initial cut was a bald one, and it took nearly five weeks to grow back out. Shiver.

If you get a cut you like and want to maintain it, you can expect to need a touch-up every three weeks or so, although I found I can go longer if I slick down my undercut with pomade and tie it down for a while before I leave the house.

What do you think? Would you ever rock an undercut?Undercut

Ten Ways the Maker of the Blue Ivy Petition Could Have Spend Her Time Better

The Internet has been making me so sad lately.   I recently read that a woman, so annoyed with the state of 2-year-old Blue Ivy’s hair actually took time out of her day to go to change.org to put together a petition to get the baby’s hair combed. She eloquently states, “As a woman who […]

To the Little Girl...

To the Little Girl…

Who does bullying affect?   The bully. Their parents. The school teachers. Certainly not adults like you and me.   We’ve taken our licks. We’ve made it through the teasing and the pushing and the fighting and now we are stronger than ever, totally unaffected by the brutes of our past. We would be spineless, […]

“There I go, rising.” ~Maya Angelou

I can’t honor Maya Angelou. I don’t have the right words.   What are the right words to honor someone who has found immortality?   It’s a rare thing to have, to be able to touch people that survive you. It’s a gift, a talent, one that Maya Angelou multiplied tenfold during her years […]

So, About this Texture Discrimination.

So, About this Texture Discrimination.

About a month ago, 4b-c natural hair vlogger Jouelzy posted a highly controversial and unabashed video and article addressing texture discrimination in the natural hair community, mainly at the hands of companies marketing things to the natural haired consumer. She discusses the fact that though she puts out great content, has a large following, and […]

Lisa the Wizard

Lisa the Wizard

There I was, staring at a newly “balded” me in the mirror.   I had big chopped in a fit of frustration and had immediately regretted the results. Not only did I have barely an inch of hair now, but also that inch was made up of three completely different textures; 4c on the sides, […]
